
Hi, Great calculator but I am curious why it uses this formula? I am pretty sure the Duckworth Lewis Professional Edition uses lookup tables which are not derived from fixed numbers...

Actually it does use this formula to calculate the resource available initially. Then the actual target score is found using iterations. You can get more details in this official journal:
